創業與管理培訓來創造及領導自己的企業
In the current economic downturn, many people are worried about their jobs and, for those who have recently been made unemployed, where their future is going.
In response to these concerns, a new type of enterprise training company has emerged in Scotland. The company is called Enterprising Scotland and is based in the heart of Edinburgh with a vision:
To create a Scotland in which enterprise is at the heart of individuals, communities and organisations; where people in Scotland seize and create their own opportunities; and from school onwards, enterprise pervades people’s behaviour.
Enterprising Scotland was formed in January this year, by an award winning Business Entrepreneur, a Management Consultant and a Chartered Accountant. Whilst this might seem like a strange combination, they have managed to create a range of certified courses, through the Chartered Management Institute.
These courses are aimed at individuals, organisations and communities who want to boost their potential and capitalise on the exciting opportunities that still exist within our credit crunch hit world marketplace.
Better still is the fact that Enterprising Scotland also provides bursaries, which in conjunction with other Scottish government funding, will provide free training for anyone who is a student, unemployed or is on a low income.
For those who are in employment, the flexible learning or distance learning delivery options for all the courses, provide the most cost effective training packages currently available in the UK, with savings of up to 85% in comparison to other training providers.
The courses currently available from Enterprising Scotland are as follows:
- Level 3 Introductory Certificate in Business Start-up
- Level 4 Introductory Diploma in Management
- Introduction to Social Enterprise Business Start-up
In addition, there will be another six leadership, management and enterprise courses, from Level 2 to Level 7, coming on stream over the next 6 months.
Alex Stobart, who is Director of Education and Training said, “We are approved by the Chartered Management Institute to deliver an exciting range of certified training courses. The Introductory Certificate in Business Start-up is my personal favourite, because unlike other business start-up courses, we actually provide an example of a business plan that won three Scottish Business Awards, plus a Scottish Executive SMART and SPUR award.
“We also provide an example presentation of how to attract investment funding, example management accounts, CVs, employment contracts, equal opportunity policies and market research questionnaires. Whilst there are plenty of books and business workshops available in the market, no-one has ever provided a business in a box like this before”.

The Scottish Government’s over-riding purpose is increasing sustainable economic growth.
2003 Household Survey of Entrepreneurship, Scots said the following:
- 9% of Scots want to start their own business ( Thinkers ) ; 10% are Doers
- 96% of working age adults say that they admire people who start their own business
- 66% believe that they have the skills and knowledge to start up a business
- Doers are men (73% v 27% of women)
- Only 19% of Doers are under 35, 28% are 35-44, 27% are 45-54
- Doers therefore have a considerably more mature age profile than the population as a whole.
